Physical Examination and Observations in Homeopathy by Filip Degroote, M.D. is an English-language reference work of roughly 752 pages that offers a comprehensive approach to clinical and physical assessment in the practice of homeopathy. In contrast to the trend in homeopathy that focuses mainly on mental-emotional symptoms, this book emphasises objective physical examination and observation as part of remedy selection and verification.
In the first part of the book, Degroote outlines methods for assessing the static posture and physical symmetry of the patient — including head position, spinal curves, shoulder and pelvis alignment, and muscle tensions — as an initial clinical step. He then details the use of Weihe points, pressure points discovered by Dr. Weihe, which are said to produce specific sensations when a corresponding homeopathic remedy is indicated; pressing these points may temporarily improve characteristic weak muscle responses.
The core of the work explores kinesiological muscle testing as a diagnostic tool correlated with homeopathic remedies. Degroote connects muscle weaknesses with certain remedies and gives detailed materia medica entries that describe physiognomy, posture, behaviour during consultation, objective physical signs, and associated points (including some that coincide with acupuncture points). Over 150 remedies are profiled with extensive anatomical drawings and clinical observations useful even for those who do not use muscle testing in their practice.
By integrating aspects of physical examination, applied kinesiology and traditional homeopathic methodology, this book aims to provide practitioners with a richer, more empirically anchored clinical framework for selecting and verifying homeopathic remedies.
