Beschrijving

This volume presents a translation of the work by Shāh Wali Allāh al‑Dhihlawi in which he offers esoteric, mystical-theological readings of selected prophetic narratives (such as those of Noah, Job, Solomon, Jonah, Muhammad) drawn from the Islamic tradition. The approach is interpretative: the outward tales are treated as symbolic frameworks pointing toward deeper spiritual realities, cosmological structures, and inner transformations. Beyond the translations themselves, the book situates those narratives within the author’s Indian-Muslim Sufi-influenced milieu: it demonstrates how Wali Allāh’s commentary sees prophets not just as historical figures but as stations of the self, stages of spiritual ascent, and mirrors of divine attributes. The text invites the reader to reflect on how scriptural stories might function as vehicles of esoteric insight, moral cultivation, and spiritual reflection.
