This work introduces a method of case-taking and remedy selection in homeopathy that places special emphasis on the patient’s vital sensation — a subtle, core sensation that lies deeper than mere mental symptoms or physical complaints. According to Sankaran, this sensation can be traced across the patient’s life experiences, gestures, recurring sensations and dream imagery, and it acts as a thread connecting mind and body. The book describes how this sensation helps the practitioner to identify the right kingdom (plant, mineral or animal) and refine remedy choice accordingly. In the book Sankaran presents his model of the Seven Levels of Experience — Name, Fact, Feeling, Delusion, Sensation, Energy and the underlying Space that supports Energy — and shows how, by moving through these levels, one arrives at the remedial core of the case. He also integrates his ideas of miasms and remedy kingdoms: the sensation represents the “what” of the disease while the miasm signifies the “how much” or depth of the disturbance. Large parts of the book use case‐studies to illustrate how the practitioner follows a pathway from chief complaint through gestures, modalities and sensation to a remedy that resonates with that “song” or pattern. Ultimately, The Sensation in Homeopathy offers a new paradigm that aims to deepen the understanding of healing beyond symptom matching, inviting practitioners to perceive and work with the energetic level of the patient. It is intended for those comfortable with classical homeopathic philosophy, materia medica and repertory, but wishing to explore a more subtle and holistic approach to case taking and remedy selection.
